Proceedings of the Eastern European e|Gov Days 2007 in Prague and the Austrian eGovernment Konference in Krems, provided by the Forum e|Government

All member states of the enlarged European Union are facing the challenge of ICT enabled transformation of traditional ways of Governance, ensuring efficient and inclusive eGovernment and decision making. The eGovernment take-up in Europe has brought a lot of new issues to solve, including specific technologies and approaches for better eGovernment services for citizens, businesses and governmental cooperation. The Eastern European e|Gov Days as a joint event are providing a solid platform for learning from each other and for ensuring knowledge transfer between the Eastern European countries and Western Europe, bringing advantages to the whole community.
The 6^th e|Gov Days as a joint event with the Austrian eGovernment-Konferenz also focus the same challenge: Learning from each other and knowledge transfer – up and down – between the federal, the provincial and the municipal level of Austrian public bodies.

7th Eastern European e|Gov Days, Prague (CZ), 22-24 April 2009 (eee|Gov Days 2009)

The increased use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in the public sector across Europe has contributed significantly to improve public service delivery and back office processes over the last decade. Recently, new priority areas in the field of eGovernment have been identified which go beyond the originally rather narrow focus on online delivery of public services in the context of European Information Society policies. 

This trend is reflected in the contributions to the eee|Gov Days 2009 which took place in Prague (CZ), 22-24 April 2009. The  eee|Gov Days 2009 were jointly organised by EPMA (the Czech European Projects and Management Agency)/ Vysocina Region (CZ) with Vienna Core group (EU), Judicial Academy (CZ), Respekt Institute (CZ) and Forum e|Government / OCG-Austrian Computer Society, Vienna (AT) and CEPA (Center for European Public Administration), Danube University Krems (AT).

Besides ‘traditional’ topics such as secure, interoperable and integrated service delivery for citizens and businesses, a number of contributions addressed emerging challenges related to governance such as the need for improved democratic processes and technology-enhanced participative decision-making models, as well as judicial processes including for example electronic court filing, and a variety of questions on the use of public sector information regarding economic and end-user aspects.

The eee|Gov Days were launched in 2003 and provide a valuable platform for the exchange of innovative ideas and mutual learning, inspiring technology transfer between Eastern and Western European countries, thereby bringing benefits to the whole community.
